You can reach Sapporo, Kobe, Naha, Fukuoka, Shanghai and Taiwan from here at Hyakuri base and shared airport. Parking is large and free. There is a souvenir section on the 2nd floor, but it is quiet during times when there are no arrivals and departures. From the observation deck, you can see the fighters at Hyakuri base. (It may not be as good as Komatsu Airport) If you are driving by car, you will use the highway, and there are buses from Mito and Ishioka. (There is a direct bus from Tokyo, but the price is cheap.) Two retired F4EJ Kais are on the side of the airport entrance.

Small airport and not many people using this airport. Mainly domestic flight but they also has some short distance international flights such as to Korea, and China. There are only few souvenir shops and small café. This airport is also being used by the Japanese air force.

All flights are currently closed. (Praying for an early revival) Also, apart from the front door for civilian aircraft, the back side is the Air Self-Defense Force Hyakuri base, so the runway can also take off and land of fighters.

Who pays for the maintenance of an airport that only has two flights due to corona? !Who made the rudimentary design mistake that an empty station was so far away that tourists didn't care? It's not a metropolitan area by any means, but it's Tohoku, but who made the prefecture so attractive that even Tohoku couldn't even enter it? Not only is there a strong desire for Tokyo, but it would be nice to have Tokyo as the name of the airport, which is a different dimension from the residents of Ibaraki around Tsukuba. it s small Airport but it s satisfy to parking and travel.it have a good security.

Good

This is a very compact, regional airport. Huge parking lot in front of the one terminal building they have. You park the car (free) and walk over to the building. Check in counter for Skymark is right next to security. On the second floor they have a small food corner and gift shops. There are shuttle buses running to Tokyo. No 🚆 train connections though!

Compact, simple and easy. Not that crowded as an airport, except the free parking. Seems you can get bus tickets to Tokyo station for ¥500 with discount (if you take flights to Ibaraki AP)

poor Tokyo Bus connection - Busses are fully booked weeks before. Please consider that when using this Airport

Nice little airport, however far away!

Although it is not a large airport, you can see the facilities on the second floor far from the observation deck. Also, since the observatory has a permanent commemorative photo panel, I think it is a very good photo spot.There is only one baggage inspection gate, so it may get crowded. I think you should pass early. There are only TVs, small shops, and vending machines.

Price is ok except for the poor bus service

Taiwan has direct flightsIt is convenient to have a bus to Tokyo, but there are not many flights, and you may be afraid of being late.There are restaurants and cafes on the second floor, so you can sit and wait.The bus is recommended to make an appointment, pay for the bus, charging and wifi can be used, but wifi will be slow if many people use it.The immigration speed is relatively fast, probably because there are not many flights, and it is unlikely that many flights will be stuck together.

Great place to see planes and a nice terminal building.
